The hybrid ozonation solution by Ozoval

Hydrocarbon production consumes increasing volumes of water, particularly for:
• Enhanced recovery techniques (water injection with polymers, steam injection).
• Hydraulic fracturing, which requires up to 15,000 m³ of water per well.

At the same time, this production generates large quantities of wastewater: approximately 3 barrels of water for each barrel of hydrocarbon produced.
This water, often highly toxic, requires treatment before:
• Their reuse (EOR, irrigation or other).
• Their discharge into the environment.

The refining sector, although having reduced its water consumption (from several m³ to 200-800 liters per tonne of crude), remains a major consumer.
The objective is to move towards zero discharge, by maximizing the recycling of wastewater while respecting environmental standards.
Faced with these challenges, the treatment of oil water is emerging as a key solution for reconciling growing energy needs and the preservation of water resources.
