The Ecological Water Recycling for Car Wash Stations

In the face of global water scarcity issues, water conservation and recycling solutions are becoming a strategic priority. In France, the reuse of wastewater is one of the key measures in the National Climate Change Adaptation Plan 2018-2022 (PNACC-2).

In this context, Ozoval has developed CERTOWASH, an innovative and compact system designed to recycle polluted water from car wash stations. This ecological solution operates without the addition of chemicals, is energy autonomous, and ensures total health safety.

The Issues of Car Wash Stations

In France, 6800 car wash stations consume around 30 million m³ of water per year, releasing as much polluted water rich in hydrocarbons, soaps, and other contaminants.

The operational cost of a car wash station relies on three major consumptions, the prices of which continue to rise:

Chemicals

Water recycling thus appears as the only viable solution to:

The Limitations of Current Systems

The current recycling systems have many drawbacks: Limited efficiency, maintenance issues, and poor return on investment.

An Ecological Revolution

The CERTOWASH System overcomes these limitations thanks to its hybrid ozonation technology. Here are its main features:

Complete water recycling: Suitable for all parts of the station, including high-pressure tracks requiring potable water quality.
Zero chemicals: Operates solely with oxygen from ambient air and renewable energy sources.
Total safety: Equipped with an online analyzer that monitors the water quality at both the input and output of the system. In case of non-compliance, the effluent is automatically recycled to meet standards.
Energy autonomy: Operates in a closed loop with a limited water intake (maximum 10%), supplemented by rainwater collected or, if necessary, potable water.
Smart management: Maintenance and monitoring are ensured by a connected app and an integrated robot, allowing simplified remote management.

Installation and Operation

The CERTOWASH system is delivered as a mobile technical unit:

1. Wastewater collection: Polluted water is stored in an underground tank.
2. Treatment and storage: The water is treated, analyzed, and stored in a clean water tank ready to be reused.
3. Closed loop: The recycled water feeds the station’s equipment, preventing any pollution discharge into the environment.
